Editor’s Session
The Editors and Editorial Board of Ethnohistory invite proposals for the invited Editors’ Session to be held at the 2013 meeting in New Orleans. We are looking for a proposal that closely mirrors the theme of the conference “Water Ways: The Ethnohistories of People and Water.” The successful proposal will be published as a special issue of the journal. Completed papers will be due within six months of the meeting. The session should consist of 6-8 papers. Please submit a session proposal, including a session abstract and abstracts of individual papers by the April 19th deadline, according to the normal procedure. You should indicate on the form that you wish to be considered for the Editors’ Session. Submissions not accepted for the Editors’ Session will be considered for inclusion in the regular program without prejudice.
Saturday Night Award’s Ceremony and Presidential Address Reception
In lieu of the traditional banquet-style Award’s Ceremony and Presidential Address, this year the Award’s Ceremony and Presidential Address will be followed by a special reception in the Hotel Monteleone ballroom. The reception will feature a large array of local specialty hors d’ouveres and a cash bar. Tickets for the reception are 60 dollars for regular members and 30 dollars for students. You can purchase your reception tickets when you register online. Only a limited number of tickets will be available for sale at the conference.
Student Travel Grants
The ASE will provide a limited number of small grants to help defray travel expenses for graduate students to present paper at the annual meeting; these may vary in amount but will generally not exceed $500.
The award is only open to those students who have already had their papers accepted by the program. Applicants should be ASE members, but do not have to be admitted to Ph.D. candidacy.
The selection committee will consider the quality of the research and the ethnohistorical focus of the topic, based on a letter of support accompanying this application. Preference will be given to those applicants who have not previously been awarded an ASE Student Travel Grant.
